Join Avalara as a Collections Specialist and support the Team Lead and Controller in carrying out various responsibilities.

Job Title: Collections Specialist 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding debts.
  • Investigate historical data for each customer account with past due invoices.
  • Follow up with customers for payment of past due invoices.
  • Update customer account status records.
  • Prepare and present reports on collection activities and progress.
  • Interact with customers via email to resolve outstanding payment issues.
  • Handle customer queries and address billing and customer credit issues.
  • Identify and execute necessary invoice adjustments.
  • Send account statements to customers with payment instructions.
  • Take actions to encourage timely debt payments.
  • Process payments and refunds.
  • Set up calls with onshore teams for process updates, resolving customer queries, and addressing other issues.

Qualifications

  • A degree in accounting or business administration with a finance focus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to financial accuracy.
  • Proficiency in working with financial and numeric data.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage daily work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in MS Office.
  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, NetSuite, and similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Open to working in shifts, subject to process requirements (1:00 pm to 10:00 pm, US/UK Shift).
